Birds revisited! Designing and making birds for this holiday block.
Day 1: Designing and modelling the birds – thinking about colour, patterns and facial expressions. The children carefully sculpted their birds. During the first session we had a fun storytime exploring moods and facial expressions – and no sulky birds were made – unlike the Pigeon who wanted to drive the bus!!
Day 2: Painting the birds and collaborative drawing. Lovely working in in pairs, experimenting with mixing paints and making new colours. The children loved drawing on the large sheet of paper, moving around and creating their pictures together – the children drew their favourite real and imagined birds.. We also listened to bird song from favourite UK birds – the Robin was by far everyone’s favourite bird.
